Each year the State University of New York recognizes outstanding faculty service, teaching, librarianship, scholarship and creative activity through the conferral of Chancellor's Awards for Excellence and the promotions to the Distinguished Faculty ranks.

SUNY Oswego is authorized to submit up to four nominations for each of the following Chancellor's Awards:

  • Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching
  • Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching

Additionally, SUNY Oswego is authorized to submit one nomination for:

  • Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Librarianship
  • Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities
  • Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Faculty Service

During this time, faculty can also be nominated to the State University’s highest academic rank of:

  • Distinguished Professor
  • Distinguished Service Professor
  • Distinguished Teaching Professor
  • Distinguished Librarian

Those interested in making nominations can download and review guidelines from the SUNY website for either the Chancellor’s Award or Distinguished Faculty Ranks.

Additionally, before you submit a nomination, it is best that you review a copy of the SUNY Oswego guidelines for these awards.

After reading these guidelines, if you are still interested in nominating an individual for one of these awards, please submit a letter of nomination (formatted as a PDF) through this Google nomination form. These initial nominations are due by Oct. 16.

Those who are nominated will be responsible for submitting all credentials and supporting materials by Nov.17. You may also address any questions about the Chancellor's Award or Distinguished Faculty nomination review process through ORSP (orsp@oswego.edu).

Not listed here are the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service and Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence. These award nominations and reviews are administered separately.

Thank you for helping to promote our accomplishments and continued excellence throughout SUNY Oswego.
