SUNY Oswego University Police have paired with Northeast Medical Diagnostics to bring a cardiac check event to the campus for all state employees and their spouses/families from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, and Wednesday, Aug. 14, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. (Edited on July 24 to add second date.)

Anybody covered under the NYSHIP Empire Plan is eligible to receive a cardiac check without cost, which would be billed to their insurance with the copay waived. Other insurances may be accepted, although they should register and call in advance so that  Northeast Medical Diagnostics can check and confirm costs/coverages ahead of time.

Appointment times are scheduled for every 15 minutes, however, patients who attend should expect the appointment to last between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the amount of testing that the patient would require.

Services of which Northeast Medical Diagnostics can and will provide are as follows:

  • Cardiovascular workup by a board-certified cardiologist
  • EKG (electrocardiogram)
  • Echocardiogram
  • Stress test
  • Carotid artery doppler to evaluate risks for stroke
  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening
  • Heart health diet and exercise consults

If there is enough demand, additional dates might be added as well.

Northeast Medical Diagnostics have stated that they have made a huge impact in saving lives by bringing some of the latest technology equipment to the patients they test, noting they have helped countless patients detect early stages of cardiovascular disease which could have led to a future heart attack and or stroke.
