The campus community is invited to celebrate National Rec Day with the Campus Recreation, Fitness Center and Sustainability offices today (Friday, Feb. 21) and tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 22.

Friday, Feb. 21 activities include:

  • Warm up with Campus Rec and the Sustainability Office in Marano Campus Center hallway at 11 a.m. by showing representatives "How you Rec!" to get a free reusable travel mug and hot chocolate.

  • Happening in Lee Hall:
    • Enter for a chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card, provided by the Fitness Center
    • Open recreation basketball from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
    • Open racquetball from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. All equipment is provided at the front desk.
    • Swimming at the Lee Hall Pool is open from 4:30 to 10 p.m.
    • Hot Shot Basketball Contest: 4 p.m., with a chance to win a championship shirt

  • In Swetman Gym:
    • Open recreation basketball from 3 to 7 p.m.

  • At Rice Creek Field Station
    • Hike, snowshoe and/or try a fat-tire bike: 3 to 5 p.m.
    • Transportation every 30 minutes from Marano Campus Center circle

* Both fitness centers, Cooper and Glimmerglass, will have a free gym day where no gym membership is needed from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Also check online for their classes, oswego.edu/fitness-centers.

Saturday, Feb. 22 activities include

  • Lee Hall
    • Open Recreation Basketball: noon to 11 p.m.
    • Open Swim: noon to 2 p.m., 4:30 to 7 p.m.

  • Swetman Gym
    • Open Recreation: noon to 3 p.m.
    • Open Recreation Soccer: 3 to 4 p.m.

* Both fitness centers, Cooper and Glimmerglass, will have a free gym day where no gym membership is needed from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

This day was created to focus on the positive benefits of recreational sports, fitness activities and wellness programs for Americans of all ages. It also represents the founding day of the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association.
