As Oswego’s First LEAP (Learning, Engagements and Academic Pursuits) Coalition for First-Generation College Student Support prepares to celebrate National First Generation Student Day on Monday, Nov. 8, organizers seek campus community volunteers to help.

Approximately one third of SUNY Oswego students identify as first-generation college students, as do many SUNY Oswego employees who were the first in their family to earn a higher-education degree.

As part of the celebration, First LEAP seeks faculty and staff volunteers to work short shifts staffing a table and engaging with first-generation students in Marano Campus Center between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Nov. 8.

The day also hopes to recognize and celebrate faculty and staff who identify as first-generation students through social media, buttons/stickers and personal narratives.

If you identify as a first-generation college student or an advocate for First Gen students, consider completing this form to help celebrate.
