In a message to the graduating members of the Class of 2020, President Deborah F. Stanley announced that SUNY Oswego will hold a Class of 2020 VIRTUAL GRADUATION CELEBRATION on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 9 a.m. This online celebration will be preceded by a Virtual Torchlight Ceremony, an Oswego time-honored tradition, on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 9 p.m.

President Stanley added that the college still hopes to be able to hold a traditional commencement ceremony on campus sometime in the next year when it becomes safe to gather in person. But for now, we don't want to miss this moment to make sure our graduates know how incredibly proud we are to welcome them into the SUNY Oswego alumni community.

In her May 5 email to students, President Stanley wrote, “We know that you have been looking forward to graduating from SUNY Oswego and sharing this special time with your family and friends who want to  congratulate you on all you have accomplished. And we want to be a part of noting your wonderful achievement as well as helping you celebrate.”

Members of the SUNY Oswego Class of 2020 have been invited to wear unique green mortarboards and robes during the virtual events and for celebrations throughout the summer. The green mortarboard and robe signify the 2020 graduates’ special place in SUNY Oswego history.

Additional details will be shared later this week when the Class of 2020 website goes live. The website will include many features that serve to honor our graduates; it will also host the May 15 Virtual Torchlight Ceremony and the May 16 Class of 2020 Virtual Graduation Celebration.
