Discover Wellness: Find A Healthier You will offer its virtual seven-week program again this fall, running once a week starting Sept. 13 and free to all SUNY Oswego employees.

This program focuses on stress reduction, healthy eating, increasing physical activity and improving overall quality of sleep. Participants will receive free weekly wellness reinforcements and strategies that will assist them in making a behavior change that will aid in increasing their overall quality of life.

An virtual information session at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, will provide a preview of the program and will allow those interested to ask questions.

Programs will run Mondays from Sept. 13 to Oct. 25 (except for one session taking place on a Tuesday, Oct. 12) from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Class sessions will include:

  • Writing Away Stress: This session works to reduce the overall stress in daily lives by educating and implementing stress management techniques. 
  • Decoding Nutrition Labels: This session teaches employees strategies to make, overall, better choices with foods to live a healthier lifestyle.
  • Move Well: This session introduces participants to functional training techniques they can incorporate into their daily routine.
  • Don’t Stress about Stress: This session helps participants  reduce their own stress and increase relaxation.
  • Portion Distortion: This session teaches participants to feel confident in properly portioning out their foods.
  • Beginner Resistance Training: This session provides participants with resistance training exercises that can be done anywhere and at anytime.
  • Sleep Well: This session educates participants on how sleep behaviors can both positively and negatively impact their mental wellness.
