She was originally hired in February 2023 as the assistant director for student engagement. Vanessa joins SUNY Oswego after gaining valuable experience in the Office of Residential Life at SUNY Brockport and SUNY Fredonia.

Please join me in congratulating Vanessa as she begins her tenure in this role.

Alumna returns in new role

Also please join me in welcoming Arialees “Ari” Brookshire Alicia back to SUNY Oswego. Ari is a 2020 Oswego alum with dual bachelor’s degrees in art, with an emphasis in graphic design, and in Spanish. Recently employed with Oswego High School as a Spanish teacher, Ari has returned to her Campus Events and Conference Services (CECS) roots. As a student employee, she gained significant experience working with the former Campus Life department and developed a passion for contributing to the many programs, activities and events, and traditions supported by the department.

In this newly designed role, Ari will be responsible for overseeing all duties associated with the student Welcome Center staff, assisting student organizations with event logistics and managing their reservations in the Event Management System. Additionally, she will provide on-site supervision for campus events and conferences as assigned, and cultivate inclusive, equitable working relationships with students, staff, faculty, community members and alumni.

Ari began in this role on Monday, June 3, and has been engaged in topic-specific training, reviewing and updating student employee training materials, and providing support for the various summer camps and conferences.

Sincerely,

Gabriel Marshall
Associate Vice President for Student Affairs
