The construction of Hewitt Hall's geothermal well field is anticipated to start today (Tuesday, March 22).  Per SUNY Oswego Vice President for Administration and Finance Victoria Furlong, the contractor will start drilling the geothermal wells in Parking Lot R-9 (the lot south of Hart and Funnelle Halls). The duration of drilling is anticipated over the next five to six weeks and will only be allowed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Noisy conditions are expected during drilling operations.

"We are ahead of schedule on this part of the project, which aims to reduce energy and carbon consumption," said Furlong. "We understand that the drilling will create noisy conditions and disruption for our students and employees but this is a significant part of the Hewitt Hall project and vital to the long-term success of our campus renewable energy plan."
