GENIUS Olympiad organizers are seeking judges for the annual international summer competition hosted by SUNY Oswego in a variety of categories. Judges can learn more and apply via the event website.

"We particularly need judges for science, art, music, short film and business," said Fehmi Damkaci, director of GENIUS Olympiad and chair of chemistry. "Please feel free to share this e-mail with your friends and colleagues to invite them to join us."

Organizers expect more than 600 projects from 78 countries and 43 states, with about 1,400 participants (including mentors) anticipated. High school students from across the world submit work in the environmental competition.

Anyone with a passion for environmental issues and a BS/BA degree in STEM, business, art, music, short film, or education may volunteer to be a judge for the appropriate field. As a judge, there is a time commitment of at least three hours per session, during which one is expected to talk to students and grade their performances based on judging criteria provided.

Judges should be available for both morning (9:30 a.m. to noon) and afternoon (1 to 3:30 p.m.) sessions, if possible, in Marano Campus Center arena on Wednesday, June 19.

Judges each will receive a $25 Amazon gift card after their judging session. GENIUS Olympiad will also provide lunch and refreshments during judging, free parking, and a GENIUS Olympiad T-shirt for those who volunteer their time.

More information will be sent via email to those who register.

The campus community is also invited to the International Cultural Festival at 5 p.m. on June 19. "This event is fun and engaging with performances and activities from around the world," Damkaci said.
