Imagine 2023, the third year of this signature SUNY Oswego program for students and recent alumni, will host a series of events in late January and early February.

A collaboration spearheaded by SUNY Oswego’s Division of Alumni and Development and Office of Career Services, Imagine 2023 kicked off earlier this year with a series of alumni-hosted Career Connections events in New York City.

The focus shifts to campus for a series of events either organized under the Imagine program or with connecting concepts.

An Instagram Live broadcast on the @ozcareerservices account will focus on inclusive dialogue training on Monday, Jan. 30, at 5 p.m., with Terrian Garvis – associate director of the university’s James A. Triandiflou '88 Institute for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Transformative Practice – and student host Cheyla Villa

They will discuss how to facilitate effective conversations surrounding topics of DEI in the workplace as well as resources for continuous learning.

On Tuesday, Jan. 31, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Alumni Panel will feature successful SUNY Oswego graduates with tips and guidance for current students in this school.

The panel includes Jamie Garcia '15 M'17, a UX researcher for SRC with a bachelor’s in psychology and master’s in human-computer interaction; Joe Gorsuch '16, advisory senior consultant for Deloitte with bachelor’s degrees in political science and in global and international studies; and Jackie Campbell Wallace '02 M'04, associate director of career education at SUNY Oswego.

The School of Business “Mock Interview Palooza,” from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 and 2, will feature alumni and employers from stand out companies such as Equitable, KeyBank, Northwestern Mutual, Novelis, Pathfinder Bank and more.

Students interested in signing up for either an in-person or virtual 30-minute time slot with an alum or employer to practice their interviewing skills, get real-time feedback from a successful alum or employer and build their professional networks, can reach out to Jessica Burridge in the School of Business at jessica.burridge@oswego.edu.

In addition, the following events connect with the Imagine program and its goals:

  • On Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26 and 27, the Oz Pathway to Leadership - Spring Leadership Conference invites student leaders to build skills and community in support of individual and organizational growth. Hosted by the Office Student Engagement and Leadership (SEL), the event kicks off with a keynote talk at 5 p.m. Jan. 27, by Derek Greenfield titled “Better Together: Building Compassionate, Innovative, and Inclusive Communities in Times of Challenge.”

  • The 34th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. The event will feature actor and activist Kendrick Sampson as keynote, with student readings and performances. Admission is free but reservations are required via tickets.oswego.edu.

  • SEL will work to combat hunger during the MLK Day of Service from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4 in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court. The office will partner with Rise Against Hunger, the Student Association and Student Association Programming Board to host a meal packaging event.
