The finals of the annual Launch It student entrepreneur competition take place at 3 p.m. today (Friday, Nov. 4) in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (Room 132) and virtually via this Zoom link.

After the semifinal round of the competition featuring 24 student teams, judges completed the difficult process of whittling the field to six finalists. The ideas and their student leaders are:

  • Embrace Me, Naomi McMullen
  • Game On, Paul Wehr
  • Grip Lock, Scott Newman
  • PetWay, David Sterling
  • Sheldon Taco, Maurice Williams
  • Spectrum Awareness, Amanda Schreiber
Sponsored by Wegmans Food Markets, GTM Guides and Equitable Advisors, prizes include $2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second and $1,000 for third overall. In addition, a $500 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) bonus will go to the top finisher with a related product, and a $500 freshman award will go to the top first-year student idea.

Those attending the event live or via Zoom can vote on Fan Favorite awards of $250.
