SUNY Oswego is celebrating National Distance Learning Week through Nov. 12 in recognition of the important campus community members who use this flexible avenue to thrive as students.

Extended Learning's National Distance Learning Week website highlights five online/hybrid learners who represent this year’s theme "Life in a Hybrid World – Learning How to Flex.” The campus is invited to learn more about:

  • Tamika Bucknor: online business administration (bachelor of science)
  • Shannon Flynn: online criminal justice (bachelor of arts)
  • Maria Cortese: online wellness management (bachelor of science)
  • Tricia Harris: online wellness management (bachelor of science)
  • Alicia Mustafa: Syracuse Campus, human development (bachelor of arts)

Since the 1990s, SUNY Oswego has successfully provided online learning options to students. An early adopter of online learning, SUNY Oswego has a record of excellence for our online graduate and undergraduate programs.

In 2018, the college established the Advancing Online Learning for Tomorrow strategic plan to chart the institution's course for future enhancements and holistic approaches to online learning. Guided by a visionary and supportive campus leadership team and our core value of academic quality, SUNY Oswego was one of the first SUNY campuses to achieve a designation for the nationally ranked Online MBA program and continues to be a leader in SUNY-wide initiatives advancing distance education.

Because of this rich history serving students learning online, SUNY Oswego has continued to navigate changes in the higher-education landscape due to the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to make improvements and refine online programs and services which are essential for high-quality, student-centered online higher education.
