SUNY Oswego campus community members are invited to perform in the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign’s 2023 Talent Showcase, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Bridie Manor in Oswego.

Organizers noted that the event, a fundraiser for Peaceful Remedies in Oswego, is not a competition but an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to show their performing talents while supporting a good cause.

The event’s structure will resemble Bridie Manor’s Wednesday open mic nights, except with talent asked to sign up in advance so that the organizers can let each performer know how much time they have per slot.

“Last year was our first attempt and it was an amazing time and a fantastic fundraiser,” said SEFA committee member Tim Nekritz, who co-chairs the event with Bob Hageny. “Many faculty and staff members already showcase their talents at local open mics, so this made sense as a great event to support an outstanding cause. But we’d also love to see students share their skills.”

If you would like to sign up, email tim.nekritz@oswego.edu and/or robert.hageny@oswego.edu.

Bridie Manor sits along West First Street, just south of Utica Street, overlooking the Oswego River. Its official street address is 1830 Bridie Square in Oswego.

Peaceful Remedies is a local organization founded by the late SUNY Oswego employee Mary Gosek, which aims to holistically improve the healing experiences of those with life-altering illnesses.

Suggested admission donation is $5 for adults; performers are admitted free in thanks for sharing their talents.
