The SUNY Oswego community stands in solidarity with the hundreds of thousands affected by the recent earthquake in Turkey and northern Syria that has taken more than 41,000 lives (according to a Feb. 14 report from USA Today).

Our hearts go out to those who are suffering and the many who have lost family members, friends and colleagues, including members of the SUNY Oswego community who have ties to the Turkey/Syria region of the world.

Several members of the SUNY Oswego faculty have reached out to a number of Turkish groups in New York State and around the globe to see how our university community might assist. We are also actively discussing how SUNY Oswego may organize an event, participate in helpful outreach, or provide resources and information on how one may volunteer or donate to an earthquake relief fund. We will share any information as soon as it becomes available.

To our campus community members who are struggling to make sense of the loss, or who have personal connections to the region, SUNY Oswego offers several avenues which are available to anyone who feels a need for support. The Counseling Services Center, located in the Mary Walker building, is available for walk-in sessions Monday-Friday: 9 a.m. - noon and 1-3:30 p.m. After hours counseling is available by calling the Counseling Center's main number 315.312.4416 and dialing "2" when prompted. Employees may reach out to the Employee Assistance Program for resources and support.
