On behalf of the Division of Student Affairs, I want to update the campus community about some imminent staffing changes that will be occurring in SUNY Oswego’s Residence Life and Housing (RLH) department.

  • Assistant Vice President for Residence Life and Housing Shaun Crisler has accepted a position at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., and will become their Associate Provost for Student Development effective June 1, 2022. His final day in his role at SUNY Oswego will be this Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Please join us in congratulating Shaun and thanking him for the tremendous service he provided to our campus and students during his tenure here. A national search to fill the Assistant Vice President position in the Division of Student Affairs will be launched during the 2022-2023 academic year.

Two appointments will be made in response to Shaun’s departure.

  • Effective March 10,  Sara Rebeor will serve as the Interim Director of Residence Life and Housing. Sara began her SUNY Oswego journey in 2008 as a Community Development Specialist supervising the four lakeside halls and serving as a senior member of the First Year Residential Experience program in Johnson Hall. In 2011, Rebeor transitioned to Assistant Director of Residence Life and Housing where she focused on programming, learning outcomes, and assessment for the department. Rebeor also served on planning committees for campus events including OzFest, the Sesquicentennial Celebration in 2011 and Rokerthon in 2017. Rebeor has served as Associate Director of Residence Life and Housing since 2013, where she has had responsibility for occupancy, operations, budget and capital planning, publications, and assessment for the department.  Rebeor, who earned her Master of Science degree in Educational Administration and Policy Studies with a focus in Higher Education from the University at Albany, also serves as the co-chair for the Student Affairs Assessment and Learning committee.

“I am honored and excited to be serving in the role of Interim Director for Residence Life and Housing,” said Rebeor. “I am looking forward to working with a strong team of leaders and partners across campus to further enhance our residential community and provide a safe and inclusive environment that will support our students.”

  • Additionally, Renee Landers-Jennings has been promoted to Senior Associate Director of Residence Life and Housing. Renee is currently in her twentieth year here at SUNY Oswego, all in Residence Life and Housing. In 2018, she was recognized with the Beth Perk Distinguished Service Award, which her peers voted on throughout the SUNY system. Landers-Jennings has been a full-time professional employee in higher education for thirty-eight years. She received her Master of Art from Elmira College in Counseling and College Student Personnel, and has worked at six different institutions across the United States, from small private to a Big Ten institution, and everything in between. Before coming to SUNY Oswego, Landers-Jennings worked as an Assistant Director of Residence Life and Housing for eleven years at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.

“I knew early on that Oswego would be my home for a long time,” said Landers-Jennings. “I have had the honor and privilege to work with many students in many different capacities as they navigate their time here on campus. I look forward to continuing to serve our students as Senior Associate Director for Residence Life and Housing.”

Please join me in congratulating and thanking Shaun, Sara and Renee.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kathleen G. Kerr
Vice President for Student Affairs
