The campus is invited to join the Office of the Dean of Students in congratulating Assistant Dean of Students - Student Outreach and Support Magdalena "Maggie" Rivera '92, '06, '07 on her retirement from her alma mater, SUNY Oswego, at the end of this month.
Over the last 18 years, Rivera has served the campus community with a commitment and compassion unparalleled. Rivera has been a trusted mentor and colleague for so many over the years. In addition to her daily work as the assistant dean of students, her tireless contributions to the campus and beyond are exemplary.
Her many contributions include the ALANA Student Leadership Conference and ALANA organizations, the Greek Community, CSTEP/McNair programs, Educational Opportunities Program, the Institute for Global Engagement program, Hart Hall Global Living and Learning Center, International Education programming, Alternative Spring Breaks volunteer service, the Grand Challenges Project: Fresh Water for All partnership with the Puerto Rico Science Trust Company – fundraising and coordination efforts with students/faculty/staff to bring water filters to Puerto Rico as a relief from the Hurricane Irma and Maria disasters, support for the Return to Oz reunion events. Most recently, her contributions were recognized as she was named the recipient of the 2024 Chancellor's Award For Excellence in Professional Service.
