With September as National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and in honor of the late SUNY Oswego employee Mary Gosek, the SUNY Oswego SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal) campaign will continue the Totally Teal campaign for fundraising and awareness.   

A gathering and walk of remembrance will take place at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 17. For this popular annual event, participants are asked to wear teal and gather on the steps of Culkin Hall for a photo and a walk around the lagoon. Refreshments will be available after the walk. 

A fundraiser for local agency Peaceful Remedies will feature a teal apparel sale, with a presale order deadline of Thursday, Aug. 29. Items available for purchase include:

  • Teal long sleeve shirt (unisex sizing)
    • XS - XL for $18
    • 2XL – 4XL for $20
  • Women’s teal tank top
    •  XS – XL for $15
    • 2XL – 4XL for $18 
  • Insulated cups w/ straw
    •  20oz for $15
    •  30oz for $18
    • two designs are available on either size mug

The apparel will have a logo on the left side of the chest. Long-sleeve shirts will also have SUNY Oswego down the sleeve.  

Apparel orders received and paid for by Aug. 29 can be picked up on Monday Sept. 16.

In addition, every Tuesday during September, SUNY Oswego will continue the #TotallyTealTuesdays campaign to raise awareness of ovarian cancer symptoms and the disease via Wear Teal on Tuesdays. 

Mary Gosek was a 30-year SUNY Oswego employee who helped lead the Totally Teal efforts to raise awareness and funds for the cause. Peaceful Remedies is a local organization founded by Gosek that aims to holistically improve the healing experiences of those with life-altering illnesses.
