The popular summer youth enrichment program Sheldon Institute invites applications and course proposals for the 2022 program on the SUNY Oswego campus.

For summer 2022, organizers are re-imagining this program in the wake of COVID-19, and invite instructors to teach for one and/or two of the weeks of the program -- Monday through Friday: July 25 to 29 (AND/OR) Aug. 1 to 5.

Instructors may identify the age group (division) of the Sheldon Institute they would like to teach. Instructors interested in teaching the Novice/Intermediate Divisions (grades 2-3 and 4-5, respectively) will submit a full curriculum to teach both weeks of the program. Instructors interested in teaching the Junior/Senior Divisions (grades 6 - 7, and 8 - 10, respectively) will identify their preferred 90-minute section time and the week they will instruct.

Multiple course proposals may be submitted.

Instructors will be compensated a flat rate of $225 per 90-minute section or $30 per hour per week.

If you are interested in becoming an instructor with the Sheldon Institute, please PDF icon review the course proposal information and fact sheet, then complete the instructor application and course proposal form, and send your resume to the information to sheldoninstitute@oswego.edu by Friday, June 3.

For over four decades, the Sheldon Institute has offered approximately 130 students entering grades 2 through 10 academic, creative and cultural learning opportunities over a two-week period during the summer. Registration is now open via the Sheldon Institute website.

The program has historically been administered through the School of Education with generous support from the Richard S. Shineman Foundation and the Tarandi Foundation.

Please contact Erin Palmitese, operations manager, at sheldoninstitute@oswego.edu with any questions.
