Organizers of the summer youth enrichment program at Sheldon Institute seek instructors and student assistants interested in teaching, inspiring and sharing their passions.

The popular Sheldon Institute youth camp at SUNY Oswego seeks dynamic instructors and course ideas for its 2025 program. This is a chance to make an impact and share expertise with curious, creative young minds.

The 2025 program runs July 21 to 25 for Week 1, and July 28 to Aug. 1 to Week 2. Participants can take part in one or both weeks of the institute on the SUNY Oswego campus.

Compensation will be $30 per hour.

Organizers seek those with have a talent, passion, or skill to share. These can be cK-12 educators, college professors and experts from all fields. Whether a pro badminton player, a robotics whiz, an art guru, a knitting ninja or someone with a one-of-a-kind skill set, organizers want interesting people interested in inspiring the next generation.

Teachers can enjoy

  • Flexible opportunities (teaching Week 1, Week 2 or both)
  • Creative freedom (can submit one or more course proposals based on expertise and passion)
  • Meaningful impact in empowering youth to discover new talents and interests in a fun, supportive environment

Seeking student assistants

Current SUNY Oswego students looking for an exciting summer opportunity, who love working with kids or are ready to kickstart a career in education are encouraged to apply as student assistants.

Student assistants have a chance to gain hands-on teaching experience, build their resumes and make a lasting impact on young learners.

Those who become student assistants will receive $15.50 per hour with a flexible schedule of up to 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Work will take place from late June through mid-August. They can develop teaching skills while mentoring future scholars.

Program organizers are seeking:

  • Education students or aspiring teachers
  • Passionate, energetic individuals with experience working with kids
  • Motivated self-starters who want to make a difference
