The SHOP (Students Helping Oz Peers) food and clothing pantry has officially served 350 people over 700 times this year -- and keeps working on filling a variety of needs. The pantry is reaching out to the campus community to help with its dire need for toiletries.

"This time of year is hard for everyone, and with the rising costs of all goods it has become increasingly difficult to stock enough items to serve our students in need," said Helena Buttons, the student SHOP coordinator. "We are putting out a call to faculty, staff and the community for toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent/dryer sheets and deodorant."

Donations are welcome in SHOP's headquarters in the Penfield Library basement, room B3, during the following hours:

  • Mondays through Thursdays: 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Fridays: 1 to 4 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 11 a.m to 2 p.m.

All users, volunteers and staff of SHOP are extremely grateful for the help in serving peers in need, Buttons said.
