Dear Members of the SUNY Oswego Campus Community,

I am very pleased to announce that Stephen McAfee has been appointed SUNY Oswego’s Executive Director of Auxiliary Services. Serving as the Interim General Manager since July 2020, he assumed this official role on August 25, 2021.

In this frontline leadership position, Steve oversees campus services including resident dining services and dining centers, retail dining and catering, the commissary, bakeshop as well as the college's ID Office, College Stores, Copy Shop, College Cut, Fallbrook, vending, washers and dryers, the campus shuttle bus and student accident and sickness insurance.

Steve has an impressive track record of progressive experience leading and overseeing operations and service business activities. His more than 14 years of retail dining and catering in higher education have positioned him to lead SUNY Oswego’s Auxiliary Services operation.

Prior to serving as interim General Manager of Auxiliary Services, Steve served as Oswego’s Director of Retail Dining and Catering from 2009 to 2020.  In this role, he was responsible for the oversight of a $2.9 million multi-unit division that provided services daily to 1,600 customers.  Before joining SUNY Oswego, Steve worked as the catering and retail operations manager for SUNY Cortland’s Auxiliary Service Corporation.

“I am truly looking forward to continue serving the SUNY Oswego community and contributing to our students’ growth and development” shared McAfee.  “Auxiliary Services is more than the services we provide; we operate spaces where students can apply their academic knowledge in a work environment and develop a greater sense of belonging, connection to their peers and our campus.”

Steve earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from SUNY Oswego, and bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Please join me in enthusiastically congratulating Steve on this well-deserved appointment.

Regards,

Dr. Kathleen G. Kerr
