To provide SUNY Oswego employees with a flexible work schedule during the summer period, and to create utility savings through greater energy efficiency and management during this period, the university is offering a four-day workweek pilot option for summer 2024.

  • The 2024 pilot program will run for eight weeks, from June 10 through Aug. 2
  • During the Juneteenth workweek, June 17 to 21, all staff will work on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with Wednesday, June 19, observed as the Juneteenth holiday.
  • Similarly, during the Independence Day workweek, July 1 to 5, all staff will work on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday with Thursday, July 4, observed as the Independence Day Holiday.

Those working a 37.5-hour weeks or 40-hour weeks can choose from three options (see this updated website for additional details):

  • Working extended days for four days per week in exchange for Fridays off (with the above exceptions) without charging for leave accruals
  • Working Mondays through Thursdays (with the above exceptions) and charging the equivalent of a day’s leave on June 14, June 28, July 12, July 19, July 26 and Aug. 2
  • Working regular hours on Mondays through Thursdays (with the above exceptions) and working from home on Fridays with supervisor approval

Those interested in this program should ask their supervisor if their department is participating in this year’s pilot, and consult with their manager/supervisor to obtain approval for a summer schedule based on institutional needs.

Access this updated website for the schedule selection form and more information. For record-keeping, the supervisor or department head will retain this document.

Following the completion of this pilot, the university will review and assess the effectiveness of this opportunity and discuss options for the future.

Employees with questions should contact their supervisor or the vice president of their division.
