With September as National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and in honor of late employee Mary Gosek, the SUNY Oswego SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal) campaign will continue the Totally Teal campaign for fundraising and awareness.

A gathering and walk of remembrance will take place at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 28. For this popular annual event, participants are asked to gather in front of Culkin Hall for a photo before a walk around campus, wearing teal and a mask.

A fundraiser for the Peaceful Remedies -- a local organization founded by Gosek and which aims to holistically improve the healing experiences of those with life-altering illness -- will feature a teal apparel sale, with a first order deadline of Monday, Sept. 13. Items available for purchase include men’s and women’s teal polos ($20 each, $25 for sizes 2XL or larger), a teal unisex shirt for $10 ($13 for 2XL or larger) and a teal tie-dye hoodie for $30. All apparel will have a “Live Love Cure, Totally Teal Tuesday” logo on the left side of the chest.

Apparel orders received and paid for by Sept. 13 can be picked up on Sept. 27. Merchandise can be ordered thereafter until Oct. 1 for a Nov. 1 delivery date. The hoodies, which are pre-order only, should be available on Nov. 1.

You can place your order via this Google form, then visit this safe and secure CashNet link to make payment.

In addition, every Tuesday during September, SUNY Oswego will continue the campaign to bring awareness to ovarian cancer symptoms and the disease via Wear Teal on Tuesdays. TEAL stands for “Tell Every Amazing Lady” about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer.

Mary Gosek was a 30-year SUNY Oswego employee who helped lead the Totally Teal efforts to raise awareness and funds for the cause.
