The campus community is invited to tune in on Tuesday for a free virtual conference presentation by Oswego graduate Paul Austin, a senior manager at IBM, and computer science faculty member Vanessa Maike on an academic partnership with SUNY Oswego undergraduates.

Their presentation, "Developer Advocacy Direct: Helping Teachers and students...and also your organization," will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, as part of this week's CASCON EVOKE 2021 conference. The presentation will draw on a partnership between IBM and SUNY Oswego software design classes where students learned development process management techniques applicable at a professional level.

“I like giving back to Oswego,” said Austin, a 1989 writing arts major whose journey took him initially into technical writing, in a June 2021 Oswego Today story on the project. “I also like helping people through the problems that I had to go through before… This is one way for me to share what I’ve learned with people that I care for, who are Oswego students.”
