A new location for the college's Office of Sustainability provides additional space for its projects but a continued focus on environmentally sustainable operations and iniatives.
The new spot of Building 20, also known as the Service Building, sits across Sheldon Avenue from Rich Hall and next to Lonis-Mackin-Moreland on the eastern edge of the main campus. The move -- necessitated by their former home of Hewitt having renovations to turn it into a nationally competitive home for broadcasting, design and filmmaking programs -- also allows plenty of space for initiatives like the popular Bike Share program for those who want to temporarily use a borrowed bicycle for eco-friendly travel around the campus and community.
The Office of Sustainability focuses on fostering environmental sustainability, improving the environment and developing a deeper awareness of the best strategies for ecological stewardship. This focus includes immersive experiential opportunities, rich academic offerings, activities and programs centered around the Great Lakes, climate action work and continual efforts to develop students with the intellectual capability, skills and technology to become environmental stewards of the future.
