SUNY Oswego’s SEFA (State Employee Federated Appeal) campaign is partnering with Laker hockey teams and Toys for Tots for the 5th annual Teddy Bear Toss.
Philanthropists and Laker hockey fans are welcome back to the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall this year for the Teddy Bear Toss hockey games. The women’s hockey game takes place this weekend -- at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, and the Oswego men's hockey game at 7 p.m. on Dec. 4.
“The players have had this game circled on their calendars since it was announced,” said Mark Digby, head coach of the Laker women’s hockey. “The men have established such a strong tradition for this event, our players are excited to see the bears launched for the first time at one of their games.”
As per tradition, fans who bring their stuffed animals to the game can throw them onto the ice after the Lakers score their first goal. Stuffed animals will be avaiable for purchase via a donation from Toys for Tots as well.
Monetary donations will also be accepted from Nov. 20 through Dec. 4 and will be available through the SEFA storefront.
All proceeds will remain in the Oswego area via the United Way subsidiary Toys for Tots.
“We are fortunate to be part of such a strong hockey community, and getting to bring this event back on campus is tremendous as we reintegrate our hockey programs and the Oswego community after such a strong virtual Teddy Bear Toss last year,” Digby said.
Spectators must adhere to the SUNY Oswego Indoor Spectator Policy.
