As part of the Blackboard to Brightspace transition, Blackboard hosting provider SUNY ITEC is working with campuses to ensure a smooth transition. This includes anticipating storage needed for faculty to archive/export their courses out of Blackboard.
To ensure ample storage, SUNY ITEC will purge Blackboard course archive/export files stored within courses on the following schedule.
- On May 16, Blackboard archive/export files created on or prior to Dec. 31, 2021 will be purged.
- Starting May 23, archive/export files older than 5 days will be purged.
Faculty who wish to keep any of their Blackboard archive/export files should download them to their computer. To do this, faculty can go to Control Panel -> Packages and Utilities within their Blackboard course(s). Any previously created archive/export files will be listed there and can be downloaded by clicking on the filename.
Please note, this is not an actual purge of Blackboard courses. It is a purge of archive/export files faculty might have created and are stored within their courses. Blackboard courses will continue to be available as the campus works through the Blackboard to Brightspace transition.
