Additional Navigation

The Digital Learning Environment (DLE) Transition team continues to make progress on the Blackboard to Brightspace transition. As a reminder, the campus is migrating from Blackboard to Brightspace for the Fall 2022 semester. To begin the transition, some pilot courses are being taught in Brightspace over the Summer 2022 semester.

As announced in the May 26 campus email, all fall courses and enrollments have been loaded into Brightspace and all employees and students can log in at www.oswego.edu/mylearning.

Summer pilot courses

The first of the summer pilot courses went live on May 23. Six fully online courses being taught by four faculty are currently using Brightspace. Approximately 21 additional faculty will use Brightspace for subsequent summer session courses.

Fall course migrations

The DLE transition team started migrating fully online courses on May 27. Due to the number of other SUNY campuses that are also migrating courses, it is expected these migrations will be completed by June 6.

Once the fully online courses have migrated, the DLE transition team will start working on migrating courses for faculty who submitted the Fall 2022 Course Migration Request form. It is expected this will start the week of June 6. The migration of these courses could also take several days due to the volume of migrations occurring at other SUNY schools.

Faculty teaching face-to-face, hybrid or synchronous online can continue to submit the course migration request form throughout the summer and the DLE transition team will continue to process them. Faculty can also choose to migrate courses themselves or start fresh in Brightspace. The document Prepping Your Course for Migration provides more detailed information on these options.

Faculty training

Faculty who have not received or registered for SUNY Center for Professional Development (SUNY CPD) training yet can take the training path self-assessment and register. All SUNY Oswego faculty can participate in the training at any time. Multiple modalities are available (synchronous, asynchronous, scaled webinars, fireside chats).

The SUNY CPD has integrated an asynchronous course inside Brightspace that faculty can access. It is called “SUNY DLE Brightspace Fundamentals Asynchronous Modules,” listed under the “CPD Pilot Semester” tab of “My Courses.”

SUNY Oswego is complementing formal CPD training with the following:

  • Zoom office hours starting June 7
  • Group help sessions starting in June
  • Recordings from Spring BreakOut workshops

More information is on the DLE training page.

Student training

The SUNY Center for Professional Development is working on Brightspace training specifically for students. When it becomes available, the DLE Transition team will be sure to share it. In the meantime, students can review the Brightspace navigation video to get a sense of how to use it.

Help and support

The implementation of Brightspace continues to be a work in progress. The DLE transition team has been working on frequently asked questions (FAQ) they hope will help answer some of your questions. If you find issues or have questions not covered in the FAQ, you may call or email the SUNY Oswego Help Desk and a ticket will be directed to the DLE team to answer.

More information on the Blackboard to Brightspace transition is available on the SUNY Oswego DLE website.
