The Office of Student Conduct is adapting its philosophical and practical approach to engaging the SUNY Oswego community in conversations on accountability, advocacy and conflict resolution.

Student Conduct traditionally receives and responds to complaints of behavior that may have negatively impacted individuals or the campus community, including incidents that occur both inside and beyond the classroom. Through individual meetings, formal hearings and informal resolutions, participants in a conduct process are afforded the opportunity to deepen their understanding of how their actions impact others. They also begin to build connections to supportive resources on campus.

Involvement from persons of all backgrounds is a key component of a fair and equitable conduct process. Looking ahead to the fall 2022 semester, Student Conduct hopes to expand the list of Oswego students, faculty and staff who serve on the Conduct Board and/or who act as conduct advisors. Training opportunities will be offered periodically throughout the year.If you would like to learn more about these opportunities, please contact conduct@oswego.edu.

To take the lead on these initiatives, the Office of the Dean of Students and I are pleased to welcome Brandon Bennett as the new director of Student Conduct. Bennett comes to SUNY Oswego from the University of Rochester, where he served as the associate director of Student Conduct and conduct coordinator since 2018. Brandon hopes to meld his experience with restorative practices into the framework of conduct at SUNY Oswego to further enhance the student experience.

We look forward to Brandon’s participation and leadership in making Student Conduct a place where students can find support navigating social conflicts; strengthen skills in conflict management; and identify holistic solutions to complex problems.
