Additional Navigation

As a reminder, the campus is migrating from Blackboard to Brightspace for the Fall 2022 semester. All courses taught with or supplemented by Blackboard will need to migrate. To begin the transition, some pilot courses are being taught in Brightspace over the Summer 2022 semester.

The Digital Learning Environment (DLE) Transition team continues facilitating the transition; below, you'll find an update on what the team has been working on since its last communication on June 15

Accessing Brightspace

Log in to Brightspace at www.oswego.edu/mylearning. A login button is also on the DLE website. As of June 13, multi-factor authentication (MFA) is now required to log into Brightspace.

Brightspace migration tip

The DLE transition team has been holding Zoom office hours and attending “Migration and Munchies” sessions (see below). Through these venues, the team has been able to help faculty migrate their courses to Brightspace and learn about common questions and/or problems. The team would like to highlight the Course Builder tool for this migration tip.

When reviewing your imported course content in Brightspace, you can use Course Builder, a tool that provides a “Global Perspective” of your course.  It allows you to view all of your content and easily move and manage materials. Specifically, Course Builder allows you to do the following:

  • Easily move content around within the course
  • Check the course for broken links
  • Compare modules to make sure they are built consistently and are properly sequenced
  • Look for material no longer used and can either move it to a storage location or delete it (though always be cautious with the delete button)

More details on Course Builder is available in the Using Course Builder help document.

Featured Frequently Asked Question

My course has been migrated from Blackboard to Brightspace.  What do I do now?

At this point, you should review your course content to make sure it migrated correctly. Here are some items to check:

  • Make sure all modules from Blackboard imported and there is content in each module. Make sure the modules are in proper sequence.
  • Check that links to other content are working correctly.  This could include links to other web sites, Panopto videos, YouTube videos, and images.
  • Check to make sure quizzes are working properly.  If you find issues, refer to Fixing Quizzes in Brightspace.

As noted in the Brightspace migration tip above, the Brightspace Course Builder tool can assist you with some of these items.
