As a reminder, the campus is migrating from Blackboard to Brightspace for the fall 2022 semester. All courses taught with or supplemented by Blackboard will need to migrate. To begin the transition, some pilot courses are being taught in Brightspace over the summer 2022 semester.

The Digital Learning Environment (DLE) Transition team continues facilitating the transition; below, you'll find an update on what the team has been working on since the most recent communication on June 22

Accessing Brightspace

Access to Brightspace is available from www.oswego.edu/mylearning.  A login button is also on the DLE website.  As of June 13, multi-factor authentication (MFA) is now required to log into Brightspace.

Fall course migrations

As mentioned above, all courses taught with or supplemented by Blackboard for the Fall 2022 semester will need to migrate to Brightspace. With six weeks remaining before the start of the school semester we are happy that many faculty are well on their way in making the transition. If you have not started migrating your courses, we encourage you to start now to avoid start of semester issues. The DLE team recommends allocating a couple of weeks per course migration.

All fully online courses for the Fall 2022 semester were automatically migrated to Brightspace on June 9.  For other course modalities, faculty have a few options:

The Prepping courses for migration document provides additional details on these options.

Once courses have been migrated to Brightspace, faculty should check the content to make sure all is working as expected.  Here are some items to check for each course:

  • Make sure all modules from Blackboard imported and there is content in each module. Make sure the modules are in proper sequence.
  • Check that links to other content are working correctly.  This could include links to other web sites, Panopto videos, YouTube videos, or images.
  • Check to make sure quizzes are working properly.  If you encounter issues, refer to the Fixing Quizzes in Brightspace document.

Brightspace course migration assistance for faculty

The DLE transition team continues to provide support to faculty migrating courses, both virtually and in-person.
