SUNY Oswego’s celebration of Graduate Studies Week 2022, from Nov. 7 to 11, will feature a mix of events scheduled on the main campus, Syracuse Campus and virtually. 

Events throughout the week will include alumni panels, career spotlights, ice cream socials and the opportunity for everyone to give "Grad-itude" to those who inspired their academic journey.  The week will also include a graduate student reception that will include recognition of outstanding graduate students and mentors.

Monday, November 7, 2022

Noon to 2 p.m. Ice Cream Social, Marano Campus Center Concourse

Pop by and celebrate with other graduate students or ask questions about the graduate school experience. All are welcome.

Noon to 2 p.m.  Are you a Commuter Student>: Seeking Your Feedback, Marano Campus Center, The Compass 

The Dean of Students office is interested in hearing more about your experience as a commuter student. Stop by and share your lived experiences. Your feedback will be used to improve the lives of graduate students as well.

Tuesday, November 8, 2022 

Noon to 4 p.m.  Curious about Graduate School? Tabling, Marano Campus Center Concourse

Stop by and get your questions answered about graduate school. Ask questions about graduate assistantships, the application proces, and admission requirements of over 40 programs. Learn about the benefits of staying on at SUNY Oswego, including a $300 grant.

2:30 to 4:15 p.m. First-Generation Student Alumni Panel, 114 Marano Campus Center 

Ask questions to the panelists pertaining to their first-generation experience here at Oswego and its impact on their life after college. 

Panelists are Amber Saint Joy '21, Montos Vakirtzis '87, Reid Adler '16 M'18 and Sarah Ozga. Co-moderating the panel are Dr. Tiphanie Gonzalez '05 M'07 and Yessemili Hernandez '24. The event will be include a mini-reception with pizza afterwards. Those who are not able to attend in person can join via Zoom. The event is sponsored by the SUNY Oswego FirstLEAP Committee, Alumni Office and Graduate Studies Office, with food provided by Auxiliary Services. 

5:30 - 7:30 p.m. “Let’s Catch up” --Pizza with the Dean, Syracuse Campus

Join Dean of Graduate Studies Dr. Kristen Eichhorn and other faculty and staff at the SUNY Oswego Syracuse Center for a quick slice and mingling. They look forward to celebrating the graduate student experience at the Syracuse Campus.

11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Coffee with the Dean, Shineman Atrium

Join Dean Eichhorn for a cup of coffee or tea and share how your graduate experience is going. Ask for advice or give your feedback. Stop by and say hello to obtain your free coffee/tea voucher.

Friday, November 11, 2022

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. FREE Veteran Luncheon, Sheldon Hall, Room 313

Stop by and support graduate student veterans at this drop-in luncheon for students, faculty and campus members. There is no set agenda, but all are welcome to come meet and greet student veterans. 4 to 6 p.m. Graduate Studies Reception, Sheldon Ballroom

Join the ultimate Graduate Studies happy hour complete with wine, cheese and desserts. Graduate Studies is excited to celebrate with you and announce the Outstanding Mentor and Outstanding Graduate Student award winners with music from the Oswego Jazz Project. Register online via this link to reserve your free gift.

Throughout the week, the Division of Graduate Studies will continue its  "Grad-itude" project by inviting the campus community to express gratitude to students, faculty, staff, family and friends. Stop by any of the above events to pick up a postcard, then drop a line to a person in your life who has made a difference and send a message of gratitude.
