"Last Day at Dave's," a new play written by theatre students under the guidance of Artist-in-Residence Cris Eli Blak, will make its debut at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, in the Tyler Hall Lab Theatre, Room 46.

The free, unticketed event is open to the campus and community.

The plot for the production reads: "When the threat of the end of the world unexpectedly hits, a collection of complex individuals, all with a story to tell and a past to heal from, come together inside of a coffee shop-bookstore hybrid, expressing their souls and waiting to see if it will really be their last day."

As spring 2023 Artist-in-Residence, Blak has taught in the Theatre Department as well as the English and Creative Writing Department while bringing students’ voices to the stage with this contemporary, collaborative production.

An award-winning playwright whose work has been performed and produced internationally, from universities and off-Broadway venues to stages in London, Australia, Ireland and Canada, Blak also has been an inaugural-year fellow with the Black Theatre Coalition and the recipient of the Emerging Playwrights Fellowship with the Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre Company.
