The university’s State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) committee plans fundraisers connecting with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, benefiting the Oswego County Opportunities Cancer Services program.

Activities include a pink apparel sale throughout the month, a Pink the Rink women’s hockey game on Saturday, Oct. 21, and Pink Day on Friday, Oct. 27.

The apparel sale throughout the month offers a $20 hooded sweatshirt or T-shirt options ranging from $15 to $18. Visit the pink apparel order form for more information and to potentially make a purchase.

The Pink the Rink game at 2 p.m. on Oct. 21 will feature the Laker women’s hockey team hosting London Jr. Devilettes in an exhibition game in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall in Marano Campus Center. The event will include a chance to win a pink jersey, as well as breast cancer awareness information. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink to the game.

Pink Day on Oct. 27 will include activities in and around the Marano Campus Center food and activities court, starting around noon. Participants can watch for tables with pink giveaways, chances to win a pink jersey or prize baskets, pink-themed winter beanie hats (while supplies last), body butters and sugar scrubs available for sale, Oswego County Opportunities Cancer Services sharing information and resources, and more.

In addition, Auxiliary Services will provide a complementary cookie or brownie to anyone wearing pink who purchases an item at Palates, Cutting Board, Laker Express or Crossroads.

Those interested in wearing jeans on Oct. 27 to further support the cause can pay $5 to do so via the Pink Day form.

All proceeds from these activities support Oswego County Opportunities Cancer Services, which provides cancer screening, support services and information for the region.
