"Preparing for the Many Futures of Work: A Discussion with Dr. Steve Sawyer" will take place in Sheldon Hall ballroom from 11:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Sawyer is a professor at Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies and editor-in-chief of The Journal of the Association of Information Science and Technology.

Sawyer will focus on what is happening at work: a look at what you will be doing in a few years. There are many futures of work, some of which can be seen bit more clearly. This clarity comes from understanding the forces shaping how work is organized and completed. Some of these forces, like the rising uses of artificial intelligence, get a great deal of attention. Other forces -- like the decreased expectation of job stability -- have become an expectation. Laying out these forces allows people to highlight how they can best position themselves for job and career success.

This presentation is sponsored by the Integrative Professional Studies program at SUNY Oswego. It is open to all and will have Zoom webinar access as well.
