Additional Navigation

Winter is coming, and Students Helping Oz Peers (SHOP) is collaborating with the Department of Communication Studies for a Winter Clothing Drive this November. The drive runs from Nov. 6 to 10.

All members of the campus community are invited to donate any winter clothing to help protect others in need from the cold, wind and snow of Oswego’s winters. In addition, the pantry is always in need of non-perishable food items.

Organizers said the SHOP pantry has seen an increase in use by students. Due to high demand, SHOP welcomes donations to meet this need.

  • Clothing donations could include:
  • Winter jackets
  • Thermal clothing
  • Winter accessories (boots, hats, gloves, scarves, etc.)

Donations should be new or lightly used clothing.

For those interested in donating food items, SHOP is particularly looking for shelf-stable milk, pasta, pasta sauce, canned ravioli and soups (chicken noodle, vegetable, tomato).

The campus community can donate winter clothing and non-perishable goods in collection boxes found in 1 Lanigan Hall (SUNY Oswego Communications Department) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 6 to 10 or to SHOP in the Penfield Library basement.

Ways to participate include:

  • Donating goods at a collection box listed above in Lanigan and Penfield
  • Stopping by SHOP’s table in Penfield Library between noon and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7
  • Emailing SHOP to make other arrangements at shop@oswego.edu, or by dropping items off at SHOP’s open hours
  • Making monetary donations via this link

SHOP is located in the basement of Penfield Library to the right of the elevator. Any students, faculty or staff who may be in need of these pantry products can gain access to them confidentially and for free by filling out the SHOP pick-up form or, if this is the first time, a new user form

Submitted orders will be filled within 48 hours and placed at the Online Orders table in front of SHOP. The hours for SHOP are Mondays through Thursdays from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m.; and Saturdays by appointment only – email shop@oswego.edu to make an appointment at least one day in advance.

Visit the SHOP website to learn more about this project and how it supports community needs.
