EXCEL: Experiential Courses and Engaged Learning is seeking First-Year Experience facilitators to teach an eight-week transition course (GST 104) in fall 2024. Both faculty and professional staff are encouraged to apply.
This course is a requirement for all incoming first-year students this fall, and there is a need for additional facilitators to join the team.
Facilitators receive curriculum support from the EXCEL Office, which includes a universal syllabus, lesson plans and structured instructor development sessions. A stipend of $1,000 per section is provided.
This program allows first-year students to earn credit for gaining academic skills, exploring the community and connecting with campus staff and resources.
Compared to their peers, students who completed the seminar reported a higher sense of belonging, well-being and connection to the campus community. Data showed they also earned higher GPAs, used campus resources at a higher rate and were more likely to return for the spring semester.

Facilitators will be selected on a rolling basis through May.
