The Music Department is pleased to announce a guest cello and piano recital featuring cellist Sara Wollan and pianist Marco Rapattoni at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, in Sheldon Hall ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.

American cellist Wollan joins the eclectic Italian pianist Rapattoni in a concert featuring highlights of the chamber music duo repertoire. They will perform cello and piano works by Debussy, Brahms, Martucci, and the world premiere of "The Devil’s Dance" by NYC composer/ jazz vibraphonist Bill Ware.

Wollan is a cellist currently living and teaching in West Lafayette, Indiana. She plays chamber music recitals and in numerous orchestras in Indiana and Illinois. Sara studied with Andre Navarra in Paris, Siena and Vienna before attending Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, studying with Eva Janzer and Janos Starker, and receiving B.M and M.M. degrees in music performance.

She played for six years in the National RAI Symphony Orchestra in Turin, Italy, and then freelanced in Chicago and New York for several years. She has performed in small ensembles for productions at the Goodman and Steppenwolf Theatres in Chicago, the Joseph Papp Public Theatre in New York and Central Park Summerstage.

Rapattoni holds the chair of piano repertoire and modern and contemporary piano practice at the Verdi Conservatory of Milan. He has performed solo and chamber music in Europe, Canada, the U.S. and China in some of the most important concert halls. Rapattoni studied first at the Conservatory in Rome, then for several years at Indiana Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, where he studied piano with Gyorgy Sebok and chamber music with Franco Gulli.
