SUNY Oswego’s State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign continues its support for community causes with its most popular annual fundraiser, Baskets of Caring, open for online chances. A newer effort that partners with University Police, Blessings in a Backpack, also works throughout November to combat hunger among local schoolchildren.
For Baskets of Caring, more than 15 themed baskets with a total of over $4,000 in items are available to participants who can buy chances for $1 each. Online sales are open this week, through Nov. 15, by viewing this link for baskets and using this form to vote for favorites/get chances to win. Payments will go through the secure SEFA storefront.
In-person sales will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 pm. on Nov. 20 and 21 on the Marano Campus Center concourse near the auditorium. Live drawings for all baskets will take place at 3 p.m. on Nov. 21.
SEFA and Oswego’s University Police also are partnering in November with Blessings in a Backpack, a national organization with a chapter in Oswego County that provides food for more than 400 students in local school districts who are food insecure. Use the Blessings in a Backpack link on this page to donate funds so that students can have meals put in their backpacks for weekends and holidays in this year-round program.
