The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Oswego County is pleased to announce a $7,465 grant from the New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) in support of RSVP’s ongoing work of engaging seniors aged 55 and up in volunteer service that meets essential needs throughout Oswego County.

The grant will assist with volunteer recognition and essential program costs allowing RSVP to continue to benefit residents of Oswego County in 2025.

RSVP of Oswego County, which has been sponsored by SUNY Oswego since it started in 1973, is among the longest-running volunteer programs in the county. RSVP of Oswego County has approximately 260 volunteers who provide support and programming at 39 community volunteer stations in areas such as environmental stewardship, tax preparation and counseling, adult literacy assistance, and assistance at many local food pantries and kitchens.

In addition to funding from NYSOFA, RSVP of Oswego County is an AmeriCorps Seniors program and receives funding from that organization in the amount of $225,000 over three years, as well as United Way of Greater Oswego County in the amount of $30,000 over three years.

Housed under the Office of Workforce Innovation and External Relations at SUNY Oswego, RSVP is led by Kathryn Watson as part of her role as director of workforce innovation and community impact. Tracie Wallace, who has been a part of the program since 2015, serves as program coordinator.
