The fourth annual Sales Triathlon, sponsored by the School of Business, will unfold April 7 and 8 and present opportunities for students in all majors to develop professional skills.

Events will take place in Rich Hall and in the Marano Campus Center’s Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall.

Activities will include 12-minute Role Plays with students and executive volunteers, 12-minute Mock Interviews with executives and a Speed Selling competition.

For the Sales Triathlon Role Play in Rich Hall, students will be evaluated on key sales skills, including opening the conversation effectively, gathering information and identifying customer needs, and resolving concerns and achieving call objectives

The four highest-scoring students will advance to the final round on April 8. In this round, the original role play scenario progresses to the next stage of the sales process, as finalists will have 30 minutes to review the new scenario before engaging in an additional role play session.

For the mock interviews in Rich Hall, students are asked to sell themselves as strong sales candidates. Afterward, interviewers will provide constructive feedback to help them improve their performance. Mock interviews will also take place in the offices of Rich Hall.

The fast-paced Speed Selling event is all about making a strong first impression. Students will deliver a two-minute elevator pitch to business executives, followed by a one-minute Q&A session before the next student begins.

This Tuesday evening, Speed Selling championships will take place at the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall following dinner and before the awards ceremony. Organizers said this high-energy event is always a highlight of the competition.
