Student Kyle Hurley is coordinating a college effort to tell the SUNY Oswego story, including weekly themed contests with prizes.

Here is his invitation to students, faculty, staff and students for the #OswegoExperience photo showcase:

Hello fellow Lakers. My name is Kyle Hurley; I’m a marketing major/photography minor and, as part of my internship with the Office of Communications and Marketing, I am leading a photo initiative that seeks to tell the Oswego story through beautiful, emotional, impactful photos.

Over the next three weeks, I am calling on fellow students, Oswego alumni, faculty and staff to join me in sharing photos that best describe the SUNY Oswego experience. Each week features a theme (see schedule below), inviting you to take and share photos that are connected in some way to the people, places, and special moments/memories of Oswego.

  • Week 1 (Oct. 26 – Nov. 1)
Places of Meaning -- Highlight your favorite place on campus and its relevant meaning

  • Week 2 (Nov. 2 – Nov. 8)
People in Action -- Showcase the impact an individual, group or the campus community has on Oswego

  • Week 3 (Nov. 9 – Nov. 15)
An Oswego moment/memory – Capture what Oswego means to you through a photo

Beginning today and throughout the next three weeks, submit your photos via social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) using the hashtag #OswegoExperience.  Be sure to tell us in your posts why your photo highlights people in action, your favorite places of meaning, and/or describes a special Oswego moment or memory.

Each week, I will recommend a photo to be featured in Oswego Today’s “Photo of the Week” on Friday, Nov. 2, Nov. 9 and Nov. 16.  The winner of the three selected photos will each be awarded a $25 gift card and receive some green and gold “swag.”  Note: All images submitted will be shared with the Office of Communications and Marketing for consideration in future marketing, advertising of the college.

Thank you all for your participation.  I look forward to seeing what my fellow students and alumni, faculty and staff submit.  Remember to use #OswegoExperience when submitting your photos.  I’ll be watching and encourage you to follow me on Instagram at @thisguytakespictures to see what I post.
