SUNY Oswego is recruiting mentors for a partnership with the New York State Mentoring Program and Leighton Elementary School in Oswego.

The program, which builds one-to-one supportive relationships between adult mentors and student mentees, strives to encourage youth to stay in school and graduate for a better future. For one hour each week, mentors and mentees engage in mentee-driven activities planned by the school on-site coordinator.

The first program is 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, and will continue to run each Tuesday, following Leighton Elementary’s calendar, until late May/early June. Mentors must be able to commit to every Tuesday.

Students, faculty and staff interested in learning more about the program or applying should contact Catherine Farrell at Catherine.Farrell@oswego.edu
