Theatre faculty members Kitty Macey and Judy McCabe, plus their advanced and beginner sewing students, are making hundreds of cloth face masks for local healthcare workers, agencies, and campus and community members.
McCabe proposed the idea, and the faculty members have retrieved fabric mainly from their homes but also campus. Their students very eagerly took on the project, as it provides experience in sewing, which is part of the coursework, but also to help others. The design and execution of the masks are to guidelines that meet Centers for Disease Control (CDC) approval.
"Our masks have been sent to Oswego City Hall, fellow campus members, Upstate Medical Center, NorthWell Health, a few senior citizens and at least one business," Macey said. "For all of us, it is one way to help our fellow Oswegonians and surrounding communities."
The #TogetherOz campaign weaves in the voices and stories of the Oswego family, to keep us all connected as we learn, educate and work remotely. We will get through this together because we are #TogetherOz.
