Laker Live, a new initiative sponsored by the college’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion, represents an opportunity for the campus community to share their talents and stay connected with one another. 

Any member of the campus community is invited to submit a proposal to host anything from a how-to session or a performance to a fitness class or a painting lesson -- whatever their skill or passion might be that could resonate with others.

It represents an opportunity to reach out to classmates and colleagues, wherever they may be, to maintain a sense of community virtually through shared live experiences. 

Laker Live is not just entertainment for entertainment’s sake, organizers said, but it also is a chance to give. The project asks each presenter to highlight the SUNY Oswego Student Emergency Fund and further highlight a charitable organization in their own community as a part of their live event. 

Two live student performances will begin the series. Zachary Robinson (pictured) will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, on his Facebook page, while Marquel Jeffries will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 9, on his Instagram account.

To better connect all the sessions, presenters should use the #LakerLive and #TogetherOz hashtags for their live streams.

If interested, potential participants are asked to submit an online application, where they can:

  • Write a brief outline of what they are planning to present and broadcast
  • Let organizers know the best days/times for the presentation (best to give three options) 
  • Provide a short video preview for organizers to review before they promote the event
  • Review and make sure they meet the project’s technical and other requirements
