School of Business professor Dr. Barry A. Friedman continued his international teaching activities -- including a connection that could result in SUNY Oswego students traveling to Germany next summer.
Friedman recently taught "Leading in a Multicultural Environment" at the Heilbronn University School of Applied Sciences in Heilbronn, Germany, where students rapidly learned how to interact and lead others from different cultures. Friedman has already been asked to visit again next summer and to bring students with him.
"There are excellent companies to visit such as Mercedes, Inc., cultural events to experience, and absolutely breathtaking scenery," Friedman noted. "Heilbronn is a charming city, and close to Heidelberg, among the most beautiful cities in Germany." More information will be available in the fall.
Heilbronn University hosted the Summer School program that spanned two weeks with 28 students exploring German business and culture. Heilbronn University economics faculty member and international representative Dr. Susanne Wilpers noted that students had the "exceptional opportunity" of learning from Friedman in the first week of classes as he “guided students through the dynamics of leading multicultural teams, equipping them with vital skills for the global business environment. We are honored to have been part of this enriching educational experience!"
Friedman remarked that “our mission at the SUNY Oswego School of Business is to serve as a resource for the local, regional, and global community. International teaching is a vital part of our mission whereby professors incorporate their international experiences into their teaching and lay the groundwork for future study-abroad opportunities for our students.”
Dr. Prabakar Kothandaraman, dean of the School of Business, added that "this advances the School's mission of providing impactful educational opportunities to our students that are supported by teaching and research excellence and aligned with the global business environment."
Dr. Ashraf Attia, chair of the Marketing and Management Department, commends Friedman for his prolific impact teaching and collaborating with Heilbronn University. "Dr. Friedman is a renowned educator and researcher who builds bridges between universities and communities," Attia said. "SUNY Oswego School of Business undergraduate and graduate students benefit from his productive international expertise, especially during his recent visit to Germany."
