Dear Members of the Campus Community,
I am pleased to share the news that Brian Wallace has been appointed director of the newly formed Department of Campus Recreation and Fitness within the Division of Student Affairs. In this role, Brian will report to the vice president of student affairs and oversee the merger of the existing fitness center and campus recreation units.
The new department, launching at the start of the spring 2022 semester, will provide engaging wellness based programs and services that contribute to the physical and social well-being of the campus community. Students, faculty and staff will continue to see many familiar recreation opportunities such as intramural sports and drop-in use of Cooper and Glimmerglass fitness centers, Lee Hall and Swetman gym. In addition, the new department will oversee the Club Sports program and introduce new events and fun traditions.
Brian most recently worked on campus as the fitness center manager. During his tenure, he oversaw the capital improvement of both fitness center facilities and introduced many new programs that promote a more physically active campus. He is a certified Wellness Coach and Exercise Physiologist, and chairs the campus health and well-being committee. Brian received his Master of Science degree in exercise physiology from Ithaca College and Bachelor of Arts degree from Gettysburg College.
