SUNY Oswego's Empire State Service Corps members attended the inaugural SUNY Service and Civics Summit in Syracuse on March 1. Participants had the opportunity to connect with Corps members from other SUNY institutions and engage with Chancellor John B. King Jr. during a fireside chat.
The Empire Service Corps is a program where students engage in 300 paid public service hours over the course of a year. Corps members are also eligible for educational awards through AmeriCorps. Areas of focus for the program include sustainability, civic engagement, basic needs outreach, anti-hate and bias prevention, and FAFSA completion.
Students interested in joining the Corps should contact Service-Learning Coordinator Jenn Joyce (jennifer.joyce@oswego.edu) and visit the ESSC website to apply.
