Steve Levy, a 1987 Oswego alumnus known for his work with ESPN and "Monday Night Football," will take part in a live Zoom Q&A with students from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25. President Deborah F. Stanley will moderate the session.

Levy is one of ESPN’s signature voices and is the play-by-play commentator for the iconic "Monday Night Football" NFL broadcasts. On Super Bowl Sunday 2021, Steve called the annual Puppy Bowl on the Animal Planet Network, and he has had cameos in eight Hollywood films.

He joined ESPN nearly three decades ago in August 1993 and emerged as one of ESPN’s leading play-by-play commentators for his work on college football, NFL, NHL and the XFL. In studio, he is widely known for anchoring SportsCenter throughout his career and has hosted SportsCenter from many of the biggest events in sports, including the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, Final Four, College Football Playoff, Monday Night Football games and more. He and ESPN hockey analyst Barry Melrose have notably covered the Stanley Cup Finals for ESPN for more than 25 years – every year since 1994.

Prior to joining ESPN, Steve worked at WCBS-TV in New York as a sports anchor/reporter (1992-93) and as a Sports Desk host on the Madison Square Garden Network (1989-91).

To begin his television career, Steve, a communication major, worked all of his four years, including two years as sports director, at SUNY Oswego’s student-run, on-campus station, WTOP-10 TV. Serving as sports editor his senior year for The Oswegonian college newspaper, he had his own column “Levy’s Lines” (1984-87). Along with that, he called play-by-play for the Oswego State Men’s Ice Hockey team on the student-run WOCR (now known as WNYO) radio station. Today, the press box within SUNY Oswego’s arena and convocation hall bears his name.

He never forgets the importance of giving back. Establishing the Steve Levy ’87 Endowed Broadcasting Internship Fund, Steve donated $40,000 to help further the education for aspiring broadcasters. For his alma mater, Steve has served as a Dr. Lewis B. O'Donnell Media Summit panelist, the Commencement Eve Torchlight Ceremony speaker and emcee, and the emcee of the With Passion and Purpose campaign launch, The Tomorrow Show.

Students are invited to submit a question by Monday, Feb. 22, that may be presented to Steve live during the chat.
