Rice Creek Field Station, Campus Recreation and Fitness, and the Counseling Services Center are teaming up to offer students an afternoon of recreation and relaxation in nature from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12. 

Fresh Air, Fresh Start at Rice Creek offers something for everybody -- whether you prefer sitting in a hammock, going for a paddle or getting creative. Although this is a free, drop-in program, students who sign up with their name and email will be entered to win one of several prize packages.

The lineup of scheduled and drop-in activities includes:

  • Kayaking/canoeing on Rice Pond
  • Yoga pose challenge
  • Fresh apple cider pressing
  • Pollinator meditations
  • Self-guided nature walks
  • Nature-inspired art: rock painting & watercolor
  • Drum circle at 1 and 2 pm
  • Chill in a hammock
  • Lawn Games
  • Free snacks

Getting to Rice Creek

Students can access Rice Creek Field Station via an 11-minute ride on the Green Shuttle, which leaves the Marano Campus Center bus loop on the half-hour. View the schedule and see this video on how to get to Rice Creek by bus. Alternatively, students can walk, bike or drive to Rice Creek, which is located about 1.5 miles south of campus at 193 Thompson Road.
